Löfstedt – ERRA – removal of civil liability for breach of statutory duty
Section 69 ERRA 2013 removing civil liability for statutory breach is expected to come into force from 1st October 2013. The Department for Business, Innovation & Skills has published a guide to the Act and the commencement date is in timetable no. 3.
EU Consultation
A European Commission consultation has invited comments to further the evaluation of the European Strategy on Safety and Health at Work 2007-12 in order to examine challenges in the occupational safety and health area, and identify solutions to address them. The consultation closes on 26th July 2013.
RIDDOR reporting change
From 1 October 2013, subject to Parliamentary review, the law will change, to simplify and clarify the reporting requirements in relation to work-related accidents, illness and dangerous occurrences. The HSE say that online guidance is being produced which will explain the new requirements, and provide examples of what does and does not require reporting. A quick start guide to the new regulations will be available to download in July 2013.
